Our Story

Route56 Adventures was born from a passion for showcasing the hidden beauty of the Eastern Cape’s northernmost region — Matatiele, Cedarville, the Maloti foothills, and the cultural landscapes surrounding the iconic Route 56 corridor.

For decades, this region was overlooked despite world-class wetlands, rare birdlife, mountain passes, rich amaHlubi and Basotho heritage, and its ideal position between KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho and the Eastern Cape.

We created Route56 Adventures to highlight its potential, uplift local communities, and make travel accessible, safe, and unforgettable for every visitor.

Our Mission

To provide authentic, safe and meaningful tourism experiences that uplift communities, conserve nature, and showcase the unique cultural and natural heritage of the Route 56 region.

Our Vision
